Arts + Events District Profile – Crosstown
While Crosstown is one of the lesser-known districts (compared to Yaletown & Gastown), this vibrant area sees a lot of local city dwellers and visitors. It is nestled in-between Gastown, Chinatown, the Central Business District and Yaletown – bordered by Beatty St, Carrall St, Dunsmuir St and Pender St.
This area has become one of downtown’s most prized neighbourhoods, with sought-after brunch and dining spots like Chambar and Jam Café – plus the famous Dirty Apron. Notable landmarks include the historic Sun Tower and a row of heritage high-rise boutique loft conversions. There’s also International Village Mall, home to Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas; Yokoyaya123, a cousin of ultra-convenient Japanese $2-store Daiso; and popular Asian supermarket chain T&T. We are excited to feature some of our Crosstown favourites:
Chambar
568 Beatty Street
Chambar is one the cities go-to modern-casual restaurants. It’s one of the prime spots to hit before going to a show or sports game at the nearby stadiums and theatres in the Arts + Events District. Their menu is Belgian themed with North African influence and a commitment to using the freshest seasonal ingredients. Pick a meal that suites you best, as they serve breakfast (opening at 8am), lunch and dinner (closing at 12am).

Jam Café

Who doesn’t love brunch? This bustling café is open 8am – 3pm daily, serving up some of the best brunch in town (just ask their google reviews + endless Instagram tags). They’re best known for their take on “green eggs and ham”. They also serve lunch items all day, plus a wonderful selection of cocktails and 8 variations of “coffee with a kick”. You are best to get there early though, as the lines can get lengthy…
